CVR celebrates 18 years of growth and innovation

The day is July 8th, 2020 and it brings with it the majority of CVR - Centre for Waste Valorisation. Thus, the Centre celebrates 18 years of existence, marked by the constant commitment to the development of innovative solutions for environmental and energy issues, from a circular economy perspective. Due to the extraordinary circumstances that the country is dealing with, the celebrations will be held digitally, with several actions taking place until the end of the year.

According to Cândida Vilarinho, President of CVR's Board of Directors, “The Centre's 18 years take place at a time of unique challenges for humanity, in which environmental issues play a central role. More than ever, the contribution of entities such as CVR can be fundamental to overcome the difficulties of the present and in this sense we will continue to work in an innovative and circular way in environmental sustainability. Since it is not possible to organize a physical celebration, we use digital to reach all those who collaborate with us or follow our activity”.

Created in 2002, CVR is a Technological Interface Center at the University of Minho that is dedicated to research, scientific analysis and application of real solutions in the area of waste management and recovery. Its organizational structure includes laboratories for the provision of analytical services, accredited by IPAC. It's the main organizer of the international scientific conference “WASTES: Solutions, Treatments and Opportunities”, where more than 1200 participants from 45 countries have already passed.
