The international conference Wastes: Solutions, Treatments and Opportunities is the largest event organized by CVR, being one of the main vehicle for promotion and international recognition of the Centre.

Taking place every two years, in different Portuguese cities, it is a reference forum for the presentation, clarification, debate and exchange of ideas on waste management theme in a circular perspective.

The 5th edition of the conference took place between September 4th and 6th, at TRYP Lisboa Caparica Mar Hotel, Costa da Caparica, having gathered 304 participants from 17 countries.

The event's program includes 4 plenary sessions, 6 thematic workshops, 123 oral communications and the presentation of 97 posters.

The scientific production of the conference included two publications: a book of «Selected Papers» by Taylor & Francis and the «Book of Proceedings» of the event.

The next edition of Wastes should take place in September 2022, in the city of Coimbra.
