Synthesis

Description and goals

Plasma2Gas project aims at developing a gasification system for plasma purification sludge through microwave induction.

The Plasma2Gas system or solution will include a waste feeding unit, a microwave-induced plasma gasification unit, a syngas heat treatment unit, a syngas cleaning unit, a storage unit and consumption of syngas and a control and automation unit for the entire system.

It is intended to use as raw materials for feeding, sewage sludge with distinct physic-chemical origins and characteristics, such as sludge from domestic waste water treatment plants (WWTP), sludge from the paper industry treatment, or sludge from other industrial units.

The Plasma2Gas solution is based on the reuse of the syngas resulting from the gasification of these wastes to produce electric energy, reducing the environmental impact of this process and contributing to the efficiency and energy autonomy of the waste managers. In turn, the excess syngas can be used to generate energy or burned in a controlled method.

All results will be used to develop a database on which the initial theoretical model will be validated and tested, on which the equipment control software will be based, allowing this technology to be adapted to the reality of each client. The process will also allow the obtaining of a solid by-product that can be incorporated into civil construction materials.
